A legendary track, a field of international top riders, unpredictable weather, and emotions running high – Kranjska Gora delivered the perfect stage for the grand finale of the iXS European Downhill Cup 2025.

After a very wet start to the weekend, conditions improved significantly by the time the final race came around, allowing the riders from over 30 countries to enjoy a fitting end to the season. The venue for the last of the six races in the series was Kranjska Gora in Slovenia, which was hosting the European Cup for the first time in five years.

The small holiday resort, located 800 metres above sea level, is located in the far north-west of Slovenia, not far from the borders with Austria and Italy. Kranjska Gora is mainly known for winter sports, but the bike park, with its 300 metres of elevation gain, also offers a wide variety of trails and is therefore a frequent destination for holidaymakers and athletes.

Friday – Autumn Arrives Early

The weekend kicked off with cool, damp weather that felt more like autumn than late summer. Light rain made the track slick and tricky to handle, forcing riders to carefully test their limits. The official course preview was tackled by Simen Smestad from Norway and Italy’s Stefano Introzzi, setting the tone for a demanding weekend on Slovenian ground.

Saturday – Lines and Lessons

After a rainy night, the second day brought even more difficult conditions. Wet and slippery roots tested the riders’ patience and precision. Athletes gathered along the track, debating the best and fastest lines. With every corner carrying the potential to gain or lose valuable seconds, the tension built steadily. In the Seeding Run, two riders set a clear mark: Abigail Hogie (USA – Beyond Racing) stormed ahead of her rivals with an 8-second gap, while Stefano Introzzi (ITA – Ridewill Bike Center Cimone) took control of the Elite Men’s field, clocking in 5 seconds faster than Simen Smestad.

Sunday – Finals and Champagne Showers

Race Day came with chilly but more stable conditions. The track offered a mix of slick and grippy sections, keeping the riders on their toes. The finals didn’t disappoint:

• In Pro U17 Male, Germany’s Lois Eller delivered an unbelievable run, his time fast enough for a fourth place in the Elite category.

• In Elite Women, Abigail Hogie underlined her dominance, crushing the competition with a 13-second lead over Kerstin Sallegger (AUT – OmniBiotic Powerteam), while Norway’s Kine Haugom (DH Talent Team) secured third.

• In Elite Men, the crowd witnessed a surprise winner: Luke Matthew Williamson (GBR – Ride Advance Racing) stormed to victory, finishing two seconds ahead of Stefano Introzzi and French powerhouse Gaetan Vige (Propain Positive).
